With autumn well under way, some plants in the garden need to be brought in under cover. Monty Don makes a start by insulating his greenhouse to provide a winter home for all sorts of tender plants and gives his tips and techniques for ensuring their survival until next year.
About a year ago, Nigel, Monty's dog, jumped up on the very table he is standing on now where there were fuchsias, wagged his tail enthusiastically and swept the fuchsias onto the ground and Monty lost a great chunk of one of the two that he had at the time, salvaged it and made some cuttings and now a year later, has got 5 extra plants. They've done badly this year and didn't flower until the end of August when they would normally be finishing. He puts the fuchsias in his insulated greenhouse.
