In Season 2 of Get Growing, New Zealand Gardener magazine editor Lynda Hallinan works with homeowners Lee-anne and Chris (and their dog Benny) to transform their yard into a lush garden filled with edible fruits and vegetables. Each week they face a new challenge, teaching viewers how to apply these lessons to their own home gardens.

    In our first episode, Lynda assesses the Coopey's West-Auckland section and together they make a plan of attack which will include not only garden beds but a greenhouse!

    Lynda and the Coopeys have spent time planning and have a good idea of where the sunniest spots are for prime vegetable growing so it's time to rally around some help and start building garden beds!

    Eggs-ellent! It's time for the arrival of Chris and Lee-Anne's flock of hens and while 'the girls' are settling in, Lynda teaches the Coopeys how to make the ultimate compost heap.

    As the vege gardens begin to flourish, Lynda shows the Coopeys how to companion plant with flowers to encourage beneficial insects and bees, while Heather tackles common rose problems.

    This week the focus is on garden maintenance, and even though the Coopey's garden is flourishing they need to learn all about feeding to ensure there is a continued abundance of healthy crops. Lynda also introduces them to the two most important 'W's' in gardening – watering and weeding.
